Alexandre’s interest in photography began as a teenager during his many trips within Brazil and to other countries.
His professional career began while he was studying journalism at PUC (Pontificia Universidade Catolica) in Sao Paulo. It was during this time that he made a four month journey in Southeast Asia, where he traveled to India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Nepal. When he returned to Brazil, he published articles of this trip in many influential magazines and newspapers. That same year he started working in the newspaper Folha de São Paulo, where he stayed 4 years working as a photojournalist publishing special articles related to the city of São Paulo and its many important events and citizens, all the while continuing to publish travel articles.
He left Folha de Sao Paulo in 2002 to dedicate himself to a personal project, an expedition by land through Latin America. With the support of VARIG airlines and FUJIFILM, he traveled the continent from the south of Argentina to Mexico for eleven months with the goal of depicting religious and cultural events of the people of Latin America. Upon returning to São Paulo, he started collaborating with the main media vehicles in the country, like the international agency Reuters and Getty images.
In 2004 he was once again on the move as he was selected to join the project ‘Saberes do Brazil,’ in which he traveled to 47 cities in the 5 regions of Brazil. The photographs generated during this project were produced into the book Brasil a Gosto, which depicts Brazilian cuisine and the culture of the regions which originate these traditions. This work was presented both locally and nationally in Bern, Switzerland, and went on to win the Best Cookbook Photography Award in Paris, in 2010.
In 2008 he was selected once again to photograph for a national campaign. The Land Rover project ‘We Live to Tell Stories,’ was a promotional project celebrating 60 years of the Defender. He, along with some of the most influential artists in Brazil, was chosen to lend his talents to showcase the Defender as a means to discover some of the remotest areas of Brazil. This work was eventually produced into a reality show made for the Discovery Channel.
In 2009 he completed another tour of Brazil on assignment for Carrefour in which he once again immersed himself in some of the most remote regions of the country to photograph small farmers and agricultural producers. This work was used to produce the book ‘Riquezas do Brazil.’
Currently, Alexandre lives and works in Sao Paolo where he collaborates with various agencies and magazines shooting campaigns and projects for the advertising and editorial market. His archive has approximately 15,000 photos from 5 different continents. Part of his work is also in the collection of Getty images and Sambaphoto.

Paulistano, Alexandre Schneider passou a se interessar por fotografia a partir das viagens que realizava pelo Brasil e exterior na adolescência.
Ainda cursando a faculdade de Jornalismo, na PUC-SP , em 1998 passou 3 meses fotografando no Sudeste Asiático e publicou diversas reportagens nas pricipais revistas de viagem, como a revista Terra, Viagem e Turismo e Ícaro. No mesmo ano, ingressou no jornal Folha de S. Paulo. Durante os cinco anos seguintes atuou como repórter fotográfico no Núcleo de Revistas do jornal, período no qual se dedicou a retratar o cotidiano da cidade e seus personagens, produzindo ensaios especiais e, regularmente, matérias de viagem.
Em 2003 deixou o jornal para realizar uma expedição de 11 meses por terra pela América Latina. Apoiada pela Varig e pela Fuji, a viagem percorreu o continente desde o sul da Argentina até o México, com o objetivo de documentar festas religiosas, mercados e as manifestações culturais dos povos latino-americanos.
Em 2004, foi convidado a participar do projeto Saberes do Brasil, com o qual viajou por 47 cidades, nas cinco regiões do Brasil. Seu relato fotográfico deu origem ao livro de fotos Brasil a Gosto, que retrata as tradições da culinária Brasileira. As fotos do livro foram expostas em Bern, na Suiça e na FNAC Pinheiros.
Em 2008 participou do projeto da Land Rover “Gente que vive para contar histórias”, que culminou em um documentário exibido no Discovery Channel e um livro de fotos das viagens realizadas.
Em 2009, contratado pelo Carrefour, viajou novamente pelo interior do Brasil retratando pequenos produtores para o livro “Riquezas do Brasil”.
Atualmente Alexandre trabalha e reside em São Paulo, colaborando regularmente na área editorial para os principais veículos impressos e online do país,. Também desenvolve e participa de projetos para empresas e agências de publicidade. Seu arquivo de imagens conta com cerca de 15.000 fotos que perfazem os cinco continentes. Parte deste trabalho está nos acervos dos bancos de imagem da Getty Images e do Sambaphoto.
